What a lovely, lovely summer it was adventuring, playing, and relaxing in between. It was my last technical summer before I give adult life a “go” in a few months, so I wanted it to be one I could really enjoy. It was!
The summer started out with a trip to the Preakness in Maryland with Jake and his family. They had a weekend of victories at the races, and while there, we attended some fun events including a Kenny Chesney concert. Two weeks later Jake and I hit the road for our first of several trips we had planned to New York over the summer. This time we were going to the Belmont Stakes. While the races were not as victorious as they were at Pimlico, Jake and I had a great time exploring the city, per usual. I spent the next four weeks at home working at Monkee’s and completing a calculus course that I had put off until the summer. Luckily as that was ending I had another trip planned to New York, this time with some friends. Madeline and I jumped in a plane and headed to Manhattan to visit Blair who was interning in the city for the summer. It was lovely spending time with these lovelies shopping and eating yummy food. I landed back in Louisville and had four days to get organized before I was to venture to the beach, my favorite place. Jake, Devin, Lizzie, Nick and I spent nearly a week in Miami at Jake’s families house. I had a great time being in Florida and enjoyed having our friends there with us. A week after our return from Florida, Jake and I were on the road again, this time headed to Saratoga, Springs New York. Easily one of the most charming cities in the country, Saratoga is a summer destination I always look forward to visiting after Jake took me there for the first time four years ago. We returned home, I started school, and then we took a long weekend so Jake and I could return to Saratoga again for the Traver’s Stakes.
As you can see it was an amazing summer filled with much adventure. The next few months I will be studying like a fiend so I can graduate!! Let’s hope adult life can be as magical as this 20 something college thing has been.
